What "ship spares in transit" means
Spare parts for a vessel are usually shipped "in transit" because the ship is registered under a foreign flag β the parts are destined for the vessel, not for import into the destination country. Handled correctly, in-transit shipments can move quickly and may qualify for duty and tax relief, but this depends on the port, the vessel and the paperwork.
The key is coordination: the parts have to reach the vessel while it is in port, so timing against the ship's schedule matters as much as speed. We work to the vessel's ETA and deliver to the ship's agent at the destination port.
What we handle for you
We collect from your supplier or store across the UAE, prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and HS classification, and mark the shipment as ship spares in transit where that applies. We coordinate with your nominated ship's agent at the destination so the parts are cleared and delivered to the vessel.
Because in-transit eligibility and clearance vary by country and port, we confirm the correct handling for your specific vessel and destination before shipping β we would rather flag a customs nuance up front than have parts held at the border. For UAE export rules, the authority is Dubai Customs.
