What food you can send
Dry, sealed and commercially packaged food travels best — dates, chocolates, sweets, spices, tea and coffee are shipped from Dubai every day. Keep items in their sealed retail packaging with the ingredients and expiry visible, which helps them clear customs.
Perishable, fresh, homemade, meat and dairy items are a problem: many countries restrict or ban them, and they can spoil in transit. Stick to shelf-stable packaged food unless you have checked the destination rules with us first.
Destination food rules
Food is one of the most regulated categories at customs. Countries like Australia, the USA and the UK have strict food and biosecurity controls, and undeclared food can be seized or fined. Always declare food honestly on the invoice and check the destination's rules — we will tell you what is allowed for your route.
Packaged food usually carries little or no duty in gift quantities, but commercial quantities are treated as imports. If you are sending food for a business, we handle the labelling and paperwork.
