Thailand charges both duty and tax on most incoming parcels, so it pays to plan ahead. The Thai Customs Department sets import duty by the item's HS code, and rates vary widely depending on the product. Duty and VAT are worked out on the CIF value — the goods plus freight and insurance — so the shipping cost forms part of the taxable amount.
As an indicative guide for 2026, import duty commonly sits in the rough range of 0% to 20% depending on the item, on top of 7% VAT. Low-value parcels have historically had a de-minimis around THB 1,500 below which duty was waived, though Thailand has been tightening the treatment of small imports, so do not assume a cheap parcel clears free. The receiver is normally the importer who settles the charges. Always confirm the current duty rate and de-minimis position on the Thai Customs website before you ship.
Thai clearance runs smoothest with a clean commercial invoice, an accurate description and the receiver's ID details. We prepare the paperwork with you, declare the correct HS code and value, and work with a local broker so your parcel is not held for a vague declaration. If duty is due, we make sure the receiver knows the likely amount before the box lands, so there are no surprises at delivery.
Air express is the right choice for most shipments to Thailand. Parcels, documents and samples reach Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Pattaya in about 3 to 5 days with tracking throughout. If it needs to be there this week, send it by air.
Sea freight becomes worthwhile for heavy or bulky volume — pallets and larger stock orders. It is much cheaper per kilo but slower, at roughly 12 to 22 days plus port handling. For a single box, the sea saving rarely beats air once you add the wait.
Message us on WhatsApp with your weight, box size and city and we will tell you honestly whether air or sea works out cheaper for your Thailand shipment.

Air express usually takes about 3 to 5 days to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Pattaya. Sea freight is much slower at roughly 12 to 22 days and only makes sense for heavy volume shipments.
Often yes. Thai Customs applies import duty by HS code — indicatively 0% to 20% for 2026 — plus 7% VAT on the CIF value. A de-minimis around THB 1,500 has applied to small parcels, but Thailand has been tightening this, so do not assume a low-value box clears free. The receiver usually pays. Check the current rules on the Thai Customs site before shipping.
Yes. Product samples, gifts, clothing and small electronics are common on this route. Duty and VAT may apply depending on value, so we help the receiver understand likely charges up front. Anything with a lithium battery has safety rules — tell us so we can pack and declare it correctly.
Yes. We deliver to Bangkok and onward to Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya and Nonthaburi. For heavy or bulky loads we can quote sea freight as the budget route when a slower transit is acceptable.
