Egypt Importer and ACID Checklist

For commercial cargo covered by Egypt’s Advance Cargo Information system, the importer must obtain an ACID before shipment and the exporter must use the required identifiers on shipping documents. Confirm applicability with the importer and carrier—do not apply cargo rules blindly to every small express parcel.

What you need before you start

  • Egyptian importer and tax/registration details
  • Written confirmation whether ACI/ACID applies to this shipment
  • ACID issued before dispatch where required
  • Exporter registration/identification required by the process
  • Invoice, airway bill and other documents carrying matching identifiers
  • Product approvals and correct HS code

What an ACID number does

ACID is the unique identifier for an import shipment under Egypt’s Advance Cargo Information process. NAFEZA describes ACI as advance electronic shipment data used for risk and regulatory checks before goods leave the exporting country.

Do not dispatch commercial cargo before the importer is ready

For a covered shipment, the Egyptian importer requests the ACID. The exporter then follows the required electronic document process and adds the identifiers to the commercial invoice, airway bill and other cargo documents. A missing or mismatched number can disrupt the shipment before or after arrival.

Small express parcels need a route-specific check

ACI guidance is often written for commercial air or sea cargo. Express courier treatment can depend on value, purpose and commodity. Ask the carrier whether the booking is handled as express clearance or under the commercial cargo ACI process. Keep the answer with the shipment file.

Keep every document consistent

The importer name, exporter identity, ACID, HS code, goods description, quantity, value, origin and transport details should agree across documents. Avoid broad descriptions such as “samples” without stating what the samples are.

Frequently asked questions

Does every parcel to Egypt need an ACID number?
Do not assume that every express parcel follows the commercial cargo ACI process. ACID requirements depend on shipment mode, value, goods and import process. Confirm the exact route with the Egyptian importer and carrier before dispatch.
Who requests the ACID?
For shipments covered by Egypt’s Advance Cargo Information process, the Egyptian importer requests the ACID through NAFEZA before shipment.
Where should the ACID appear?
Official NAFEZA air-cargo guidance says covered shipments should show the ACID and required importer/exporter identification on the commercial invoice and airway bill, with the ACID on other cargo documents.
